About our Compounding Laboratory:
Town and Country Compounding and Consultation of Ridgewood, New Jersey, specializes in pharmacy compounding, which is the traditional method of preparing customized medications to meet unique physician and patient needs.
Compounding allows physicians and patients to overcome many clinical challenges. Just a few of these challenges are: patient non-compliance, commercially unavailable medications, providing alternative dosage forms and/or routes of administration, providing bio-identical hormone replacement therapy for people experiencing hormonal changes, providing transdermal pain medication for patients with GI tract issues, or simply finding a trusted source for the physician’s own customized formulations. Professional consulting services are also available for the many specialties that we support. Since 1969 the compounding pharmacists and certified pharmacy technicians at Town and Country Compounding have dedicated themselves to the art and science of individualized compounding, along with personalized consultations.
Unlike typical pharmacies, Town & Country Compounding has a dedicated compounding laboratory which utilizes modern state-of-the-art equipment and technology, innovative medication dosing devices and high-quality ingredients. We consistently obtain only the best quality ingredients from known and trusted sources that employ a team of chemists who routinely test the ingredients for purity and consistency though out their production process.
All sterile medications, i.e., injectables and ophthalmic medications, are prepared to the USP<797> standard for Sterile Products in a Class-100 Glove Box. This glove box is located in our Class 1000 Isolated Clean Room with an advanced laminar flow hood. Only pharmacist who have received specialized training to the USP<797> sterile standard will compound sterile medications.
All compounding pharmacists and certified pharmacy technicians have gone through extensive compounding training and pride themselves on the quality of their work. They share their knowledge by advising the patient in the protocol for his or her medication, and in patient consultations.
In addition to our compounded medications for humans, we also provide many compounded medications for veterinary practices and zoos. Animals like humans can vary in size, and therefore may need a stronger or weaker dosage than may be commercially available. Also pets like humans may have difficulty taking a commercial medication in their available forms. For example it is often easier for a pet owner to administer a transdermal (through the skin) thyroid medications, or other medications, rather than trying to get a pet to take the medication orally. Pets, like humans resist unpleasant tasting medications. We also compound many sterile medications, ie: ophthalmic solutions used to treat eye infections and diseases.
